Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Norma website, CLI, and beta program. By using any of them you agree to what follows.
1. Acceptance
By accessing norma.sh or using any Norma software you confirm that you have read these terms and accept them. If you are using Norma on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
2. The service
Norma is a specification-fidelity tool that reads your spec, indexes your code, and reports how faithfully the implementation matches its requirements. The CLI runs locally on your machine. Any web-based features (the dashboard, beta sign-up, and this website) are provided "as is" during the beta period and may change without notice.
3. Your account and beta access
Beta access is by invitation only. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You must not share, transfer, or sell access to your account. We may suspend or terminate access at any time if we believe these terms have been violated.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Norma to: (a) violate any applicable law or regulation; (b) infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party; (c) attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or those of our users; (d) transmit malware, spam, or any harmful content; or (e) reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any non-open-source part of the service.
5. Open-source components
The Norma CLI and MCP server are released under the MIT licence. Your rights and obligations with respect to those components are governed by that licence, not solely by these terms. The source is available on GitHub.
6. Your data and code
The CLI operates locally and sends code only to the model provider you configure, using your own API key. We do not receive, store, or process your source code. Information you submit through the website (such as your name and email for beta access) is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Intellectual property
All trademarks, logos, and brand features of Norma are our property. Nothing in these terms grants you a right to use them without our prior written consent. You retain all rights to your own code and specifications.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Norma and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 100, whichever is greater.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Norma and its team harmless from any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the service or violation of these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do we will update the "Last updated" date below and, for material changes, notify beta users by email. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Norma is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
